Ein Tag in Österreichs größtem Skigebiet
Zurück wo alles angefangen hat: Vor knapp 10 Jahren habe ich von Ski auf Snowboard gewechselt und in St. Anton am Arlberg den ersten Anfängerkurs bekommen. Diese Saison durfte ich nun wieder zurück, in das Skigebiet das zu den fünf Größten auf dieser Welt zählt. Von guter Autobahnanbindung bis hin zu kostenlosem Parken ist dieses trotz seiner enormen Fläche wie geschaffen für einen Daytrip, selbst für uns Baden-Württemberger.
Das Skigebiet
Von St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben über Zürs und Lech bis nach Schröcken und Warth erstreckt sich das Skigebiet auf über 300 Skiabfahrtskilometern und bietet vielfältige Abfahrten für Anfänger und Profis. Auf Grund der Tatsache, dass bereits die beheizten Sessellifte am Arlberg ihr Debut hatten, ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass das Skigebiet auch heute noch für topmoderne Liftanlagen steht. Seit dieser Saison 2016/2017 schließt die neue Flexenbahn den Kreis und bringt die Region unter die Top 5 der größten zusammenhängenden Skigebiete der Welt.
Wir sind direkt zur Talstation der Flexenbahn angereist, wo wir kostenlos auf dem großen Parkplatz direkt an der Passstraße parken durften und so nach weniger als 2 Minuten Gehzeit im Lift saßen. Während der Liftfahrt genießt man hier bereits eine Aussicht über die schneebehangenen Berghänge bis auf die Gipfel der Alpen am Horizont.
Wie es sich für ein gutes Skigebiet gehört, sind an jeder größeren Bergstation genug Pistenkarten vorhanden, um den Überblick behalten zu können. Eine interaktive Karte für die Planung vorab findet sich HIER. Diese kann ich wärmsten Empfehlen, da sie alle wichtigen Infos übersichtlich vereint! Für unterwegs ist die Ski Arlberg App ein praktischer Begleiter mit allen Infos und netten Features wie z.B. der Messung von gefahrenen Kilometern.
Unser Ziel für den Vormittag war die Balmalp, eine Skihütte auf 2.106 Metern Seehöhe, inmitten der imposanten Bergwelt von Lech und Zürs. Auf der Speisekarte finden sich nicht nur traditionelle Speisen aus der Region, sondern auch die Signature Pizzas des Hauses für, zwei, drei oder auch mehr Personen. Spontane Showeinlagen von DJs und eine Outdoor-Bar locken nicht nur Skifahrer zur Hütte.
Wer seinen Tagestrip sportlich angehen möchte, findet mit dem „Run of Fame“ eine Herausforderung, die besonders an sonnigen Tagen viel Spaß und Erlebnis verspricht. Den Stars aus Film und Sport ist dieser Run gewidmet und führt die, die sich auf die 65km lange Rundfahrt begeben über 18.000 Höhenmeter von St. Anton/Rendl nach Warth (oder andersherum).
Für die Rückfahrt nach Stuttgart haben wir an einem Sonntag gerade einmal 3h 45min gebraucht. Wer also in der Region um 5 Uhr morgens aufsteht, kann bereits vor 9 Uhr auf der Piste eines der weltweit größten Skigebiete der Welt stehen. Das war mir selbst bis zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch nicht klar!
