SOCIAL MEDIA WEEK Los Angeles – The new trends in social media – Powered globally by NOKIA
Los Angeles! My first time in this beautiful sunny city. I was invited by Nokia to spend one week in Los Angeles as a Social Media Week reporter.
The social media week is one of the biggest and most unique global platforms in the world, with interesting series, speakers and conversations about the trends in social media – this is the social media week which takes place two times a year in more than 24 countries. Let’s find out what it is all about and what i discovered in LA.
The first day i was invited to the CarFreeLA Tour organized by discoverLA with many other people from LA. The tour started on the steps of Beverly Hills City Hall, at the Crescent Drive entrance.
We walked through the Beverly Garden Park , the 1.9-mile linear park features a jogging path, hundred-year-old cypress and ficus trees, gardens, public art.It was pretty warm that day but i was excited and happy to see many interesting parts of Los Angeles and at the end see the images which i took only with my new Nokia Lumia 1020 during my stay.
My favoutite stop was the Santa Monica Pier and the Route 66 sign, which i saw for the first time in real. I just knew that place only from different movies before. I was so happy to see that part of Los Angeles. A big beach with a beautiful blue sky was my first impression when we walked to the pier. I just stoped and took few pics of that place before i noticed that sign – yes – the sign ! Route 66 – i made it!
I went down to the beach to see the ocean and feel the warm sand. I wanted to try out the focus of the Nokia Lumia 1020 but he problem was that i didn’t had a subject that i could fokus on – oh wait … yes this was the only thing i had to test the focus – my empty diet Coke. So what, it works well with the focus i was very satisfied about the result.
I just stopped there for a while a watched that famous sign. I don’t know why, but that sign made me feel that i finally realized i was in Los Angeles and it was for real. Ok, i was there, what else did i excpect to see ? Beverly Hills and the famous expensive Rodeo Drive. Let’s go to the next place that i only know from some Movies that i saw in Germany (btw. it was Beverly Hills Cop with Eddie Murphy).
This was the first stop for me at the Rodeo Drive! Many people saw that car and started to take pics. It wasn’t that easy to capture it without any people in it, maybe i croped out a famous one ? Who knows 🙂 The Rodeo Drove was the same as i saw it on TV before. Mayn expensive shops, few restaurants but not famous stars around.
It was a very cool day from Santa Monica to Beverly Hills. If you every visit Los Angeles i suggest you to go on a Free Car LA tour. You will discover all the famous places you maybe know from movies and see mayn other interesting places that are hidden gems in Los Angeles and it makes lot of fun to be with other people.
Next day was the opening of the Social Media Week , which was held at a place called ROC Santa Monica. I was provided with a VIP Master Class pass, giving me the chance the visit all panels that were offered during the entire week. The panels and Master Class events had very interesting topics about social media:
– DSLR No More – Camera Phone me ?
– What influences the influencer ?
– Social Strategy, Analytcis and ROI for Brands
– Celebrities vs. Bloggers: Who rules fashion marketing ?
A very special guest visited the next day the Social Media Week. On Tuesday Larry King was talking together with George Takei about their experiences of the social media life. It was a very special and funny interview about social media.
So do we twitter on vine or upload an instagram for youtube ? Is there more than Facebook and a hashtag contest? Is it all about likes or more about engagement ? And are Blogger destroying responsible journalism? Many interesting questions after one week will lead us toward a great social media world.
The last day i could capture the amazing sunset of Los Angeles (Santa Monica) where i was amazed by the quality of the Nokia Lumia 1020.
After one week i came back with new interesting topics and beautiful pictures from Los Angeles, all taken with the new Nokia Lumia 1020 (no edit).
