Krabi Highlights – Die geheime Lagune und sehenswerte Strände
(Sehenswert bedeutet nicht unbedingt schön)
Krabi ist eine Provinz an der Süd-West Küste von Thailand an der Adaman See, und ca. 800km von Bangkok und 170km von Phuket entfernt. Krabi hat nicht nur eine eindrucksvolle Natur mit atemberaubenden Felsformationen, sondern auch traumhafte Stränden und über 130 Inseln an der Küste, darunter einige weit über Thailand bekannte Inseln wie Koh Lanta oder Phi Phi Island. Die Region gehört in den letzten Jahren zu einem der meist besuchten Orte in Thailand.
Viele suchen in Thailand die geheimen Ecken, die touristisch noch nicht so überlaufen sind und andere folgen den Reiseführern und suchen die bekanntesten Plätze. Ich war jetzt drei Mal in Thailand und werde sicherlich noch einige Male das Land erkunden. Die letzte Tour dauerte insgesamt sechs Wochen und groß im Gedächtnis ist Krabi geblieben. Warum ich ein zweites Mal hinfliegen werde und welche Ecken ihr meiden solltet, gibt es hier:
Anreise aus Deutschland
Die Anreise aus Deutschland mit dem Flugzeug dauert ca. 16 Stunden und erfolgt über Bangkok. Direktflüge nach Krabi gibt es bisher nicht. Empfehlenswert ist daher ein Zwischenstop in Bangkok für 2-3 Tage. Alternativ gibt es natürlich auch Busverbindungen ab Bangkok, die jedoch knapp 16 Stunden Fahrt abverlangen. Ein Flug ab Bangkok bis Krabi dauert 70 Minuten und kostet zwischen 25 Euro und 80 Euro. Die Busverbindung ist mit 24 Euro nicht wesentlich günstiger. Für den Aufenthalt in Krabi sollte man eine Woche einplanen, wenn ihr zudem die Inseln wie Koh Lanta oder Koh Phi Phi als Tagesausflug noch einplanen möchtet.

Klong Muang Beach
Ein kleiner Geheimtipp (besonders zum Fotografieren)
Der Tourismus in Krabi hat in den letzten Jahren stark zugenommen, sodass viele Orte wie Ao Nang oder Railey Beach mittlerweile sehr beliebt und gut besucht sind. Etwas abgelegener ist dagegen der Klong Muang Beach. Er liegt etwa 25 Kilometer westlich von Krabi Town. Mehrere Resorts mit direktem Zugang zum Strand laden zum Verweilen und Entspannen ein. Es geht hier recht ruhig zu und die vorgelagerten Inseln sowie die nahen Bäume und Palmen im Hintergrund schaffen eine idyllische Landschaft. Ein gutes Dutzend kleiner, origineller Strandbars und Restaurants lädt zum gemütlichen Verweilen ein.
Die Grenze zur zweiten Bucht und damit zum nächsten Abschnitt bildet eine malerisch vorgelagerte kleine Insel, die bei Ebbe auch trockenen Fußes zu erreichen ist. Ab hier hängen die Bäume weiter über den Strand und es gibt mehr natürlichen Schatten. Kurz darauf prägen kleine, rustikale, originelle Bars und Strandrestaurants das Ambiente. Hier lässt es sich unter freiem Himmel wunderbar im Schatten oder in der Sonne sitzen. Hin und wieder kommen die motorisierten Longtail-Boote an, bilden jedoch keine ständige Geräuschkulisse. Einige der Bars überdecken deren Sound durch das Spielen erheblich angenehmerer Musik. er Sonnenuntergang lässt sich von hier aus besonders gut genießen. Abends gibt es regelmäßig Tanzshows und du kannst bei Kerzenlicht romantisch unten am Strand sitzen oder weiter oben in den Lounge-Ecken. Es ist auch relativ egal für welches Lokal ihr euch am Strand entscheidet – das Essen und die Preise sind hier immer sehr gut. (MEIN GEHEIMTIPP)

Pro:
Wie ihr auf den Fotos erkennen könnt, ist der Strand einfach nur perfekt zum Fotografieren, besonders zum Sonnenuntergang bekommt man nicht genug. An einer Stelle sammeln sich mehrere Restaurants direkt am Strand in typischer Thailändischer Atmosphäre. Jeden Abend kann man einen sehr langen Spaziergang machen (Auch zur vorgelagerten Inseln bei Ebbe) und im Anschluss sehr gut essen.
Contra :
Wer auf der Suche nach typischen Strand Bungalows ist, der wird hier nur schwer fündig. Die wenigen Hotel in Strandnähe sind im mittleren bis höheren Preissegment (dafür qualitativ sehr gut). Zwei bis drei Strand Massagen und keine Geschäfte machen den Klang Mang Strand dann doch eher etwas einsam.
Hier noch einige Eindrücke vom Strand und den gemütlichen Restaurants. Sehr empfehlenswert für schöne Abende in einer tollen Atmosphere.

Ao Nang Strand – Massentourismus À La Carte
Der Touristenort Ao Nang hat zwei Strände, nämlich den Ao Nang Beach direkt vor der Promenade und im Westen den Hat Noppharat Thara Beach. Der Ort sollte schon auf der Reiseliste stehen, denn es gibt hier zahlreiche Souvenirläden, Restaurants und jede Menge Anbieter für verschiedene Touren. Hier empfiehlt es sich einfach mal zwei Tage zu bleiben und zu entscheiden, ob einem dieser Ort zusagt. Der Strand in Ao Nang ist ein sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für den Besuch des Railay Strandes, denn für ca. 100THB geht es von hier mit einem Longtailboat zum anderen Ende der Insel . Die Fahrt dauert knapp 10 Minuten und bietet eine malerische Aussicht. Für einen ruhigen und erholsamen Urlaub ist diese Gegend nicht die beste. Hier sollte man sich eher ein Hotel am Hat Noppharat Thara Beach suchen.
Pro:
Hier kann man wunderbar einkaufen gehen und die Auswahl an Bars und Restaurants ist sehr groß. Jede Menge Massagesalon und viele Anbieter für Touren.
Contra :
Der Strand ist nicht wirklich zum Entspannen geeignet, da hier knapp 100 Longtailboote nur auf die nächsten Touristen warten und entsprechend ist auch die Lautstärke.
Ao Nang- Mit dem Koffer zum Boot
Tiger Cave Tempel – Wat Tham Suea
Der Tempel ist definitiv sehenswert und ca. 30 Minuten mit dem Roller von Ao Nang entfernt. Der Aufstieg ist mit 1237 Stufen auch nicht gerade ein Spaziergang, aber mit einigen Pausen und viel Wasser in einer Stunde geschafft. Es ist ein an einer Höhle gelegener Tempel mit einigen hundert Mönchen, denen man beim hinaufsteigen begegnet. In der Höhle befindet sich eine aufwendig geschmückte, fast kitschig beleuchtete Buddhafigur und ein Tempel. Dieser Tempel ist bei Buddhisten weit über die Grenze Südthailands aus bekannt. Herzkranke sollten von einem Besuch absehen, denn der Aufstieg über teilweise sehr hohe Stufen bei 30 Grad ist ein “wenig” anstrengend. Unbedingt Wasser für den Aufstieg mitnehmen und für den nächsten Tag, wegen des zu erwartenden Muskelkaters keine sportlichen Aktivitäten einplanen. Dafür haben alle, die das geschafft haben, einen sesationellen Blick über Krabis wilde Landschaft. Auf dem Weg wird man einige Affenherden passieren… hier gilt alles festhalten, denn die Affen klauen wie die Raben.

Die Geminsisse am Railay Beach
Krabi gehört zu meinen Lieblingsorten aufgrund einer kleinen geheimen Lagune, die hier versteckt ist. Den Railay Beach erreicht ihr nur mit einem Longtailboot für ca. 100 THB und 10 Minuten Fahrt. Es ist auch kein Geheimntip mehr und ein Hotel in der Hauptsaison sollte man einige Monate im Voraus buchen. Entweder ihr entscheidet euch für einen Tagesausflug oder verbringt hier 3-4 Tage. Dieser Bereich ist in drei Abschnitte unterteilt – Railay West (Ankunftsstelle), Railay East und Phrang Nang Beach. Alle drei Strände sind fussläufig innerhalb von ca. 5 Minuten erreichbar. Wenn ihr in Krabi seid, sollte ihr diesen Abschnitt ganz oben auf die Liste setzen.

Nach einer kurzen Fahrt mit dem Boot werdet ihr am Railay Beach abgesetzt und dürft euer Gepäck erstmal vom Boot zum Strand transportieren. Die Touristen und Mitarbeiter helfen einem ein wenig, aber den Weg zum Strand müsst ihr selbst übernehmen. Dort angekommen gibt es den Hauptstrand mit einigen Restaurants und Hotels (Railay West). Hier gibt es keine Autos oder Roller, die euch in euer Hotel bringen. Die Wege sind aber auch kurz und selbst mit einem schweren Koffer ohne Probleme zu meistern. Unser Hotel , das Sunrise Tropical Resort befindet sich am Railay East und ist sehr zu empfehlen. Preise in der Hauptsaison liegen bei 80 Euro pro Nacht.Sehr schöne Bungalows im Thai Stil mit großen Doppelbetten und einer Terrasse eingebettet zwischen Palmen und wenige Schritte vom Strand entfernt. Für eine Abkühlung sorgt der kleine aber saubere Pool.
Railay West Abschnitt – Filmkulisse pur
Das ist die Stelle an der die Longtailboote ankommen und man könnte es als Hauptstrand bezeichnen. Die Kulisse errinnet schon an einen malerischen Film (ohne die Touristen) und ist besonders morgens um zum Sonnenuntergang einfach nur schön. Von hier aus führen kleiner Wege (Gassen) zum nächsten Strand. Die Hotels am Strand sind alle sehr dicht beieinander , auch wenn sie durch Restaurants und Bars etwas getrennt sind.

Prang Nang Beach – Romantische Abende im Höhlenrestaurant
Ein 5 minütigen Spaziergang führt euch entlang gigantischen Kalkfelsen zum Phrang Nang Strand. Der Anblick mag zu Beginn gewöhnungsbedürftig sein, denn hier reihen sich sehr viele Longtailboote aneinander. Diese sind jedoch fast schon eine Attraktion, denn es sind eine Art Imbiss Boote. Ihr bekommt hier leckere Snacks und Gerichte zu regulären Preisen. Zum Glück ist nicht der gesamte Strandabschnitt mit den Booten besetzt. Einige Meter weiter habt ihr genug Platz zum Schwimmen und Sonnenbaden. Am Anfang des Strandes findet ihr auch ein sehr gemütliches und fast schon romantisches Restaurant “The Grotto”. Abends sitzt ihr fast in einer Höhle mit dem Blick zum Strand. Zum Restaurant gehört auch ein Resort mit luxuriösen kleinen Villen. Im Restaurant liegen die Gerichte bei ca. 500 THB – 800 THB – nicht ganz günstig, aber für ein romantisches Abendessen sehr empfehlenswert.

Railay East – die Bar Meile
Der Abschnitt an dem sich unser Hotel befindet hat keinen richtigen Strand zu Baden, aber dafür ein kleinere Meile mit Restaurants, gemütlichen Bars und ein paar Shops. Selbst eine Thai Box Arena findet ihr am Ende des Weges. Insgesamt hat man aber nach ca 20 Minuten Fußweg alles gesehen.
Railway View Point mit geheimer Lagune und Aussichtspunkt
Unser Hotel liegt also am Railay East und der Weg zum Phrang Nang Beach führt an einer Kletterwand vorbei. Der Weg zum Aussichtspunkt ist hier sehr gut ausgeschildert und eigentlich nicht zu übersehen ( wie gesagt, das ist hier alles nicht sehr groß). Auf dem Weg zum Aussichtspunkt habt ihr die Möglichkeit zu einer sensationell schönen Lagune zu klettern. Ihr werdet bei der Ankunft an dieser Kletterwand viele verdreckte Touristen mit glücklichen Gesichtern sehen. Auf den ersten Blick sieht alles sehr waghalsig und steil aus, jedoch ist dieses eigentlich nur der erste Abschnitt des Weges. Zahlreiche dicke Seile und provisorische Leitern muss man hier erklimmen, um die Lagune zu finden. Ihr müsst auch nicht lange suchen, denn der Weg oben ist auch aufgeteilt “View Point” + “Lagoon”. Unbedingt festes Schuhwerk mitnehmen und damit rechnen, dass ihr sehr dreckig zurückkommt. Der Weg ist glitschig und schlammig und an einigen Stellen versinkt man regelrecht im Boden. Es hört sich alles schlimmer an als es ist. Die Klettertour kann ich wärmstens empfehlen. Wir werden sogar ein zweites Mal nach Krabi fliegen, nur um noch einmal die Tour zu machen. Der Schlamm lässt sich auch problemlos mit Wasser wieder auswaschen. Insgesamt haben wir ca. 40 Minuten für die Lagune und den Viewpoint gebraucht und ich würde es jederzeit nochmal machen.

Tonsai Bay und der Weg durch den Dschungel
Für diejenigen, die ein Hotel buchen hier ein wichtiger Hinweis. Es gibt einige gute und günstige Unterküfte am Tonsai Bay. Dieser Bereich ist aber ebenfalls etwas abgeschnitten vom Railay Beach. Hier führt entweder ein kleinerer Kletterweg entlang am Strand über einige Felsen oder die Variante über den Dschungel von Railay East bis Tonsai Bai mit knapp 40 Minuten Fussmarsch. Diese Tour kann man einmal machen, aber unterwegs gibt es kaum neues zu entdecken. Einige alte Bambushäsuer und sehr günstige Unterkünfte. Am Tonsai Bay gibt es auch so gut wie keine Geschäfte falls ihr größere Anschaffungen erledigen wollt. Der Strand Abschnitt ist dafür wirklich sehr schön und malerisch und ich empfehle daher eher den Weg über den Strand. Unser Hotel am Tonsai Bay hatten wir sogar kurzfristig storniert als wir dort angekommen sind. Hier gibt es so gut wie nichts.

Auf der Suche nach den Höhlen
Der Railay Beach auf Krabi ist zwar im Vergleich zur restlichen Insel sehr klein, hat aber trotzdem einiges zu bieten. So findet ihr auf dem Weg zum Strand einen Hinweis auf eine Höhle. Die “Tham Pranangnai” Höhle ist nicht sehr groß und ihr müsst am Eigang 50THB Eintritt bezahlen, aber der Besuch für die wenigen Taller lohnt sich.

Fazit & Empfehlung
Für Reisende nach Thailand empfiehlt sich ein Flug ab Bangkok (Kosten ca. 60 Euro je nach Saison, Dauer 70 Minuten). Flüge nach Koh Samui kosten hier schon mal mehr als das Doppelte. Krabi ist für 7-14 Tage sehr zu empfehlen , da es hier viele unterschiedliche Möglichkeiten gibt. Alles ist gut und schnell erreichbar und einem erholsamen, spannenden und bunten Urlaub steht nicht im Wege.
