Abschalten und Staunen
Auf dem Klotok durch den Regenwald – Etwa 12m lang und 2m breit sind die traditionellen Holzboote, mit welchen wir uns auf eine traumhaft schöne und erlebnisreiche Fahrt zu insgesamt drei Stationen auf Orang-Utan Suche begeben haben.
Etwa drei Tage sollte man einplanen um sich auf diese Tour zu begeben, auf der man gemütlich den Flussläufen des Regenwalds von Pangkalan Bun bis zur Forschungs- und Rehabilitationsstation für Orang-Utans „Camp Leaky“ folgt. Das Klotok, ein traditionelles Holzboot mit zwei Stockwerken, ist dabei auf jeder Seite geöffnet, wodurch bei einer leichten Briese die Artenvielfalt an Vögeln und Affen beobachtet werden kann. Das Highlight der Trekkingtouren sind aber ohne jeden Zweifel die Orang-Utans, die hier in freier Wildbahn leben, sowie sonst kaum noch irgendwo auf dieser Welt.
Unsere Tour habe ich auf den nachfolgenden Bildern und dem Video festgehalten.
Ausgangspunkt: Pangkalan Bun
Tänzer mit tradionellen Trachten begrüßen uns am Hafen von Pangkalan Bun
Der Hafen von Pangkalan Bun ist Ausgangspunkt für die Reise in den Tanjung Puting National Park. Über einen Anschlussflug aus Jakarta gelangt man hierher bereits für 45-80USD (Je nach Jahreszeit). Am besten lassen sich die Tourenpakete auf der Webseite von Orangutandays.com buchen. Hierbei gibt es verschiedene Pakete mit unterschiedlicher Dauer. Wir haben uns für die Orangutan+Nature Expedition über 2 Tage mit einer Übernachtung auf dem Boot entschieden. Die Touren-Pakete enthalten nebem der Führung mit einem persönlichen Ranger und einem Boot (max 10 Leute) auch:
- Transfer von und zum Flughafen
- Eigener Koch/eigene Köchin an Board
- Drei Mahlzeiten am Tag und Snacks für zwischendurch
- Aufenthaltsgenehmigung im Nationalpark
- Alle notwendigen Gebühren.
Bei der Ankunft im Hafen (der von der Größe her eher einem Anlegesteg gleichkommt) hat uns eine Tanzgruppe begrüßt, die für etwa 15 Minuten einen traditionellen Tanz dargeboten haben. Nach einem Ritual wird der Weg zum Schiff auch durch einen Krieger freigeschlagen, der nach einem Schaukampf die Pforten zum Regenwald öffnet.
Wie verläuft die Bootsfahrt?
Entland dem Sekonyer geht es Flussaufwärts immer tiefer in den Regenwald hinein. Am ersten Tag beträgt die Fahrzeit auf dem Boot etwa 3-4 Stunden. Danach geht man von Board und begibt sich das erste Mal auf die Suche nach Urang-Utans. Während der Fahrt mangelte es uns an nichts. Von leckerem Essen über sanitäre Anlagen bis hin zu Steckdosen war auf unserem 6-Mann Klotok alles vorhanden. Lediglich von seinem Handy-Netz muss man sich während der gesammten Reise verabschieden, da es in den Wäldern keinen Empfang gibt.

Da entlang des Flusses auch nach Gold geschürft wird, ist dieser mittlerweile größtenteils braun gefärbt, wird jedoch, je weiter man in den Regenwald hineinfährt, immer klarer, bis man auch vollständig klare Sicht bekommt und somit z.B. auch die Krokodile im Wasser sehen kann. Während man auf dem Sonnendeck die Liegestühle hütet und die verschiedenen Vogel- und Affenarten an den Ufern beobachtet, fängt das Küchenpersonal bereits mit dem zubereiten der Speisen an, die wirklich SEHR lecker waren.
Was unternimmt man außerhalb des Klotok?
Man wird vom Guide darauf hingewiesen, dass man nicht sicher sagen kann, wann und wo man welche Tiere sehen wird. Da bei jedem Stop aber eine Fütterungs-Station für Affen in der Nähe ist, empfand ich es als ausgeschlossen, dass man Tanjung Puting verlässt, ohne Urang-Utans gesehen zu haben. Die Guides bringen Ihre Gäste gezielt zu den Fütterungszeiten zu den besagten Haltestationen, sodass man während der Trekkingtouren so einige Orang-Utans, Langnasenaffen und Bonobos sehen kann. Meist schwingen sie sich von Baum zu Baum, können aber auch direkt neben einem aus dem Gebüsch gelaufen kommen. Die Affen sind durch die Rehabilisierungsstationen Menschen gewohnt, weshalb man bei einer Begegnung nichts zu befürchten hat, solange man sie nicht berührt oder sich hektisch verhält. Von den männlichen Orang-Utans sollte man jedoch einen größeren Abstand halten.

Wo und wie übernachtet man?
Nach dem ersten Stop am Nachmittag beginnt es auch schon zu dämmern, nachdem man das Boot wieder erreicht hat. Die Guides und das Küchenpersonal bereiten wenn möglich ein gemütliches Dinner am Landesteg der Haltestation vor. Da der Kapitän die Anlegestelle freihalten muss, fährt man anschließend noch etwas weiter um entlang des Flusses den „Anker“ auszuwerfen. In der Dämmerung kann man nocheinmal die verschiedenen Affenarten am Flussufer bei ihrem Abendessen beobachten. Die Klotoks haben auf dem oberen Deck Matrazen für die Nacht und Moskitonetze gegen unerwünschte Besucher.

Die Flexibilität der Guides
Es gibt geregelte Uhrzeiten, zu denen Besucher an den verschiedenen Haltestationen anlegen dürfen. Außerhalb dieser Zeiten dürfen die Tiere nicht gestört werden. Immerhin leben diese in der Wildniss und sollen auch in diese zurückfinden bzw. dort verbleiben. Jedoch lassen sich die Guides gerne darauf ein, früh am morgen aufzuwachen und vor Sonnenaufgang bereits flussaufwärts zu fahren. Der Vorteil? Eine unvergessliche Stimmung in den Wäldern durch das einfallende Morgenlicht, den Nebel auf dem flachen Wasser und die Tiergeräusche und Vögel in der Luft. Ein GANZ heißer Tipp!
Sonnenaufgang auf dem Fluss in Borneo mit nächtlicher Anlegestelle
Das Hauptziel der Zwei-Tages-Tour war Camp Leaky, eine Forschungsstation und Rehabilisierungseinrichtung mitten im Regenwald. Dort begegnet man wahrscheinlich den meisten Orang-Utans und das auch auf Augenhöhe. Sie sind zum Anfassen nahe, was jedoch STRIKT verboten ist. Hier befindet sich auch ein Informationszentrum und eine weitere Futterstation, wo man bei der Fütterung zusehen kann. Das kann mitunter sehr lustig sein, wen mehrere Affenarten aufeinandertreffen und den größten Anteil am Futter für sich beanspruchen wollen. Das Wasser im Fluss vor Camp Leaky ist sehr klar. Es ist zu vergleichen mit den braunen Seen in Hochmoor Gegenden. Hier sollte man das Baden aber trotzdem unterlassen, es sei denn man möchte mit den Krokodilen schwimmen gehen.
Was sollte man mitbringen?
- Während unserer Zeit im August herrschten Temperaturen, die schätzungsweise zwischen 23 und 30 Grad lagen. Dazu kommt eine sehr hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit. Auf den Booten, während der Fahrt bemerkt man dies wegen des Fahrtwindes kaum, hier ist es sehr angenehm. Während der Trekkingtouren ist die Haut Nass wie nach dem Duschen. Es empfiehlt sich daher atmungsaktive Kleidung und keine Baumwolle zu tragen.
- An Board einiger Klotoks gibt es auch Duschen, jedoch sind die Möglichkeiten zum Waschen allgmein sehr begrenzt, weshalb man auch feuchte Tücher mitbringen sollte
- Geschlossene Schuhe sind empfehlenswert für die Wanderungen, da es hier auch Feuerameisen und andere kleinere Insekten gibt. Wanderschuhe werden nicht benötigt.
- Ein Spray gegen Moskitos! Es wird dringend empfohlen, wobei ich sagen muss, dass ich während unserer zwei Tage genau ZWEI Moskitos gesehen habe (Vielleicht hat es einfach auch nur gut gewirkt 🙂 )
- Bezüglich des Gepäcks sollte nur das nötigste mitgenommen werden. Koffer von 10 Leuten, bzw. 6 oder 4 je nach Größe des Klotok, sind kaum unterzubekommen.
- Warme Kleidung für die Nacht. Hier hat mir persönlich eine lange Hose und ein zusätzlicher Pullover gereicht.
- Sonnencreme
- Eine Wasserflasche, da auf dem Boot ein handelsüblicher Wasserkanister zum Wiederauffüllen bereitgestellt wird.
