Der erste Discovery erschien vor 27 Jahren auf dem Markt und war schon damals überaus vielseitig und begeisterte mehr als 1,2 Millionen Kunden. Ich hatte schon letztes Jahr das Vergnügen den Vorgänger in Griechenland ausgiebig zu testen und auf die Probe zu stellen. Das Event zu der glamourösen Weltpremiere vor einer spektakulären Kulisse war daher für mich besonders spannend und ich war sehr neugierig, welche Neuheiten sich hier bieten würden.
Im Garten von Packington Hall wurde in einer fünfmonatigen Arbeit aus 5,8 Millionen Legosteinen die Tower Bridge als Kulisse für die Premiere nachgebaut, damit wurde zeitlich noch ein neuer Lego-Weltrekord aufgestellt. Diese Nachbildung des Londoner Wahrzeichens diente jedoch nicht nur als Kulisse, sondern war mit ca. 13 Metern Höhe und einem Klappmechanismus der Brücke für die Vorführung des Land Rover Discovery gedacht.
Hier spielte sich die wahrhaftig spektakuläre Vorführung ab, zu der auch die Markenbotschafter wie Anja Kling und Stephan Luca angereist waren. Die Veranstaltung bot den Gästen nicht nur kulinarische Highlights, sondern eine atemberaubende Vorführung den neuen Discovery . Doch was hat Land Rover mit dem neuen Discovery anzubieten ? Wie gut ist der neue Geländewagen ?
Land Rover Discovery Design – Bereit für das digitale Zeitalter
Der neue Land Rover Discovery übernimmt auch im Design wieder bekannte Markenzeichen der Modellreihe auf. Die Stufe im Dach ist nicht nur elegant, sondern eher als praktisches Erfordern zu sehen. Das Dach im hinteren Teil ist erhöht, sodass Passagiere in der dritten Sitzreihe genug Kopffreiheit geniessen können. Insgesamt finden im Geländewagen sieben erwachsene Personen platz und das bei einer Gesamtlänge der Karosserie von unter fünf Metern. Der Innenraum wird durch hochwertige Materialen wie Windsor-Lederbezüge oder Eiche-Echtholzdekore verschönert. Dank der modernen Technik können die Sitze der zweiten und dritten Reihe mit minimalen Aufwand per Fernbedienung neu konfiguriert werden.
Ich persönlich finde das Touchscreen und die Smartphone-App sehr praktisch. Verschiedene Funktionen lassen sich hier nicht nur direkt im Auto einstellen, sondern schnell und einfach per Smartphone. Wie das geht ? Während man im Laden an der Kasse steht, kann das Ladeabteil des Discovery auf größere Einkäufe vorbereitet werden, indem man alles über die App programmiert. Der neue Discovery hat clever konzipierte Stauräume, so dass alles seinen Platz findet.
Das InControl Touch Pro sieht nicht nur elegant und übersichtlich aus, es bietet neuste Technik und eine einfache Anbindung an das eigene Smartphone. Die eigene Musik vom Smartphone wird über 14 Lautsprecher und einen zusätzlichen Subwoofer wiedergegeben und bietet mit dem Digital-Surroundsystem von Meridian die beste Soundqualität. Im Digitalen Zeitalter kommen wir nur selten ohne Smartphones und Tabletts aus, so können sich Besitzer des Discovery über einen 3G-Wi-Fi Hotspot für bis zu acht Endgeräte freuen. Die Energieversorgung der Geräte wird über bis zu sechs 12-Volt Ladestationen und maximal neuen USB-Anschlüsse gesichert. Damit dürfte doe Digitale Welt auch unterwegs immer erreichbar sein.
Für moderne und aktive Familien bietet der Discovery auch genügend Stauraum und Ablageflächen für alle modernen Geräte, ohne dass man anschliessend lange suchen muss. Das Ablagefach in der Mittelkonsole ist groß genug für vier Ipads oder ein paar Zwei-Liter-Flaschen – ebenso wie ein Staufach in der Mittelarmlehne für bis zu fünf Ipads oder auch ein „Geheimfach“ für kleinere Gegenstände hinter dem klappbaren Medienpanel der Klimaanlage. Mit dem Design und der neusten Technik kann der neue Discovery definitiv überzeugen.
Fahrkomfort und hohes Leistungsvermögen
Wie nimmt der Discovery im Gelände die Herausforderung an und welche Vorteile bietet er auf der Strasse an ?
Mit 480 Kilo weniger fährt es sich besser ? Im Offroadeinsatz, erst recht aber auf der Straße kann der neue Discovery die Vorteile ausspielen. Als Basis dient ihm nämlich ein modernes, ebenso stabiles wie leichtes Aluminum-Monocoque, welches bis zu 480Kilogramm Gewicht einspart. Land Rover hat dem Discovery zudem eine innovative Integral-Hinterachse spendiert, wodurch sich den Handlingeigenschaften und dem Fahrkomfort neue Dimensionen eröffnen. Für die Sicht über den Dingen für den Fahrer sorgt hier eine erhöhte „Command Driving“ – Sitzposition.
FAZIT:
Ich war bereits von dem Vorgänger im Bereich Design und Technik ( 1 Woche Geländefahrt auf Kreta) sehr begeistert und bin daher über die Weiterentwicklung im technischen Bereich positiv überzeugt. Der Discovery ist als Geländewagen für jede Familie und jeden Abenteurer geeignet und verspricht durch durch seine Vielseitigkeit einen unaufhaltsamen Abenteuerdrang. Der Verkaufsstart ist für das kommende Frühjahr geplant und mit einem Preis ab 50.500 € eine gute Investition.
